Mirpur

Mirpur is one of the major regions of Dhaka city. It was established in 1962, it is the north-east of Dhaka city. It has an area of 58.66 square kilometres and has a residing population of 632,664. Mirpur is bounded by Mohammadpur to the south, Kafrul to the east, Uttara to the north and Savar upazila to the west. Mirpur is divided in 14 sections. It is mostly known for natural beauty, large water lakes, ceramic reserve, Botanical garden and the National Zoo.


Major roads connect Mirpur with rest of the Dhaka city. It only takes 25-30 minutes to reach Shajalal International Airport from Mirpur. You can find local buses form Uttara, Khilkhet, Notunbazar, Basundhara R/A, Shabagh, Old Dhaka, Dhanmondi, Mahammadpur to go to Mirpur. You can also find Uber, Pathao and CNG service to Mirpur from all over Dhaka.

While you are in Mirpur you can visit Botanical Garden and National Zoo as they are adjacent to each other. It was built in 1961 with an area that is more than 100 acres in size. This garden collects and documents plant specimens from all over the country, as well as from far-off locations. The garden is categorized into fifty-seven sections and includes a cactus house, lily ponds, a lotus pond, six lakes, two nurseries, an orchid house, a tissue culture research center and comprehensive visitor facilities.
